01/10/2021 –    The 2021 Meltwater CCTF Chess24 event is filled with many exciting games. New opening variations is shared by the super GMs to the chess public. The kiddies, juniors, seniors, and even Master/Expert level chess players enjoyed a lot about this learning experience.

Our topic this chess blog edition (no. 34) is  about the games of the two super GMs Vladislav Artemiev (Russia) and Maxime Vachier Lagrave (France) in the 2021 Meltwater CCTF Chess24. The Sicilian vs. 3. b3 line

The 3.b3 line is one of white's sideline moves versus the Sicilian Defense. Placing the bishop at b2 takes control of the a1-h8 diagonal. GM Artemiev prepared something unusual to counter white's 3. b3 set-up.

The Sicilian Bb5 vs. Najdorf

The 3. Bb5 move is to exchange the white bishop for white's quick development at kingside. GM Vachier Lagrave played aggressively not allowing GM Carlsen to gain comfortable position. This game is very exciting, tactics in all corners...
